Rampton Relay Terms & Conditions of Entry

Definitions

  • Participant: means the named person in the Registration.
  • Terms and Conditions: means the terms and conditions set out below.
  • The Event is a running race comprising one or more circuits of one Rampton Mile

Registration

  1. By entering this Rampton ’77 Committee Event, you understand and agree to the terms and conditions stated below. If you disagree with any of the below terms then please do not enter. If you are in any way unsure on any aspect of the content below, please contact us at [email protected]. The Rampton ’77 Committee reserves the right to change these Terms and Conditions at any time.
  2. Entries by children or minors require a responsible adult or guardian to be present at all times during the race including Registration at the start of the race.
  3. Numbers are issued to individual athletes and teams. Numbers should not be transferred.

 The Event

  1. All participants must be aware that ground conditions are uneven and may be slippery underfoot.  Participants are encouraged to take the utmost care and enter at their own risk. Any accidents or injuries that occur during the event will not be the responsibility of the Rampton ’77 Committee.
  2. All participants understand that they bear all of the risks associated with the stress and strains of the event from a physical perspective. All participants agree that they are fit and healthy enough to compete in the event and will not hold the event organisers responsible for health failures that arise during/following the event. Additionally, entrants will not hold the organisers responsible for the loss or damage of any personal equipment left without care.
  3. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel applications, including duplicate applications, or to alter the date, time and/or venue and format of the Event, including the course route or distance, in whole or in part, without notice or liability to Participants.  In the event of a cancellation that is beyond our control, such as adverse weather conditions and communicable diseases, a full entry fee refund will be automatically issued.
  4. Alcohol, tobacco, illegal substances, performance enhancing substances or intoxicants of any kind are strictly forbidden.
  5. We may take photographs or video during the Event. Participants and spectators may be included, either intentionally or unintentionally, in posed and background shots. Participants agree to allow the Rampton ’77 Committee to use any images and video content obtained on the day on their website, used in promotional materials or on our social media channels.
  6. If a potential Participant considers themself to have a disability please contact us to discuss the entry prior to application.
  7. Race marshals and medical team members have the authority to disqualify and remove any runner they consider to be acting dangerously or to be unfit to compete.
  8. Disqualified runners will be removed from the race results
  9. Runners are required to give assistance to fallen runners and to report any casualties immediately to the nearest first aid post or race marshal.
  10. Race timings for all race positions and prizes will be based on the start/finish clock
  11. In the event of any dispute the decision of the Event Adjudicator shall be final.
  12. There are no toilet facilities in the Parkland.

 Participant’s Declaration

  1. The Participant agrees to abide by the Terms and Conditions, the Code of Conduct, and any other rules, instructions and regulations published and displayed from time to time or given on the day of the Event by race marshals, officials and emergency services.
  2. By completing and submitting the registration, the Participant confirms that, to the best of their knowledge they are healthy and fit to complete the course and voluntarily and freely chooses to assume the risks.
  3. The Participant acknowledges and agrees that, subject to clause 18, the Participant shall:
    1. fully indemnify and keep the Rampton ’77 Committee fully indemnified from and against all liabilities, claims, actions, proceedings, loss, damage, costs or expenses suffered or incurred by the Participant; and
    2. irrevocably indemnify and hold harmless, and reimburse the Rampton ’77 Committee from and for any sum, costs or expenses (including legal and professional fees) incurred, payable or paid by the Rampton ’77 Committee to any person (including the Participant’s insurers) in connection with any accident, loss, damage or injury (including death) arising out of the Participant’s attendance at, participation in, or training for, the Event.
    3. Subject to clause 18, the Rampton ’77 Committee shall not be responsible for any losses the Participant suffers as a result of the Rampton ’77 Committee’s breach unless such losses were reasonably foreseeable to both the Participant and the Rampton ’77 Committee as at the date of the Participant’s registration for the Event. For the avoidance of doubt, the Rampton ’77 Committee will not be liable to the Participant in contract, tort (including, without limitation, negligence) or otherwise in connection with the Events for loss of revenues, profits, contracts, business or anticipated savings or loss of data); or goodwill or reputation; or any special or indirect or consequential losses; for any personal injury to or death of the Participant.
    4. Subject to clause 18, the Rampton ’77 Committee’s liability to the Participant shall in any event be limited to the refund of the entry fee
  4. Nothing in the Terms and Conditions shall affect the Rampton ’77 Committee’s liability for death or personal injury resulting from the negligence of the Rampton ’77 Committee or a deliberate act or omission of the Rampton ’77 Committee, its employees, volunteers,  or agents:
    1. for breach of statutory duty;
    2. for fraudulent misrepresentation; or
    3. to the extent that liability cannot be excluded or limited by law.

 

CODE OF CONDUCT

Expected Behaviour

  • Be considerate and respectful.
  • Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behaviour and speech.
  • Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants. Alert a race marshal immediately if you are involved in or witness a dangerous situation or someone in distress.

Unacceptable Behaviour

  • Unacceptable behaviour includes: intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory or demeaning conduct by any participant or member of staff.
  • Harassment includes: offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability; inappropriate use of nudity; deliberate intimidation, stalking or following; harassing photography or recording; sustained disruption of event proceedings; inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
  • Wearing clothing that is not suitable for a sporting event, that is provocative, or otherwise potentially offensive.
  • Physical, written, verbal or other abuse, intimidation, threats, annoyance, harassment, stalking, pushing, shoving or use of any physical force whatsoever against any person, which in any way creates a disturbance that is disruptive or dangerous, or creates anxiety in a person.
  • Possession of any item that can be used as a weapon, and may cause danger to others.
  • Any boisterous, lewd or offensive behaviour or language, including but not limited to using sexually explicit or offensive language, materials or conduct, or any language, behaviour or content that contains profanity, obscene gestures, or racial, religious, gender, or ethnic slurs.
  • Possession or use of any illegal substance. The Rampton ’77 Committee does not tolerate the use or abuse of illegal substances at any events.
  • Assembling for the purpose of, or resulting in, disturbing the peace, or committing any unlawful act or engaging in any offensive behaviour.
  • Failure to obey any rules or regulations of the Event, as instructed by the Rampton ’77 Committee

Consequences of Unacceptable Behaviour

  • Unacceptable behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behaviour is expected to comply immediately.
  • If a participant engages in unacceptable behaviour, the Rampton ’77 Committee may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including a suspension permanent or temporary from the Event.

What to Do If You Witness or Are a Victim of Unacceptable Behaviour

  • If you are subjected to unacceptable behaviour, notice that someone else is being subjected to unacceptable behaviour, or have any other concerns during an event, please notify a member of staff as soon as possible. All reports will remain completely confidential.
  • The Rampton ’77 Committee team will be available to help participants contact local law enforcement, or to otherwise assist those experiencing unacceptable behaviour to feel safe for the duration of the event. You can report unacceptable behaviour to any member of the Team who can be found at the event or you may email us via [email protected]
